National Curriculum Band Information
Curriculum Information
Navigating the new National Curriculum can be a challenge - especially for parents! Add to this the removal of a well-established assessment system and it becomes even tougher to monitor pupil attainment and progress.
St Thomas of Canterbury Church of England Junior School is committed to supporting children and their parents on this new journey of 'Life without Levels' and continues to work very closely with representatives from Target Tracker to assist in this process. We very much hope that the information on this page helps to answer some of the questions you may have. Developed in partnership with EES for Schools education consultants, Steps has been designed to support schools with formative assessment in the current 2014 National Curriculum and for use in line with the Target Tracker software.
Drawing on Target Tracker's proven assessment model, Steps breaks the new curriculum into easy-to-understand statements providing a manageable set of tools to enable teachers to carry out formative pupil assessment effectively.
Each Year Group is represented by a 'Band' - Band 3 represents Year 3, Band 4 represents Year 4 …and so on! On each sheet you may also notice a little shape character - depending on how many points/spikes it has represents the content for that Year Group!
